Rules
04:09
|
|||
I'm ok with rules
All I ask is that those who make the rules
Practice what that preach
Not what they fear
Rules are good when order is required
But order has a border that includes
Those who make the rules
They should abide by the rules they make
Consequence should be something that hurts
Rules aren't made to be broken
They're made to make things work
I've been scared for awhile
But now I just don't care anymore
I played the part of someone else so long
That now I don't know which one is me
I follow the rules
Even when it doesn't suit me
But the folks who make them don't follow them the same way
Rules are good when order is required
But order has a border that including
Those who make the rules
They should follow the rules they make
Consequence should be something that hurts
Rules aren't made to be broken
They're made to make things work
I've been scared for awhile
But now I just don't care anymore
I played the part of someone else so long
That now I don't know which one is me

Looking Glass Heroes
04:59
|
|||
There's not much difference between
a hero and one who simply survives
I can't be a hero all the time
Sometimes it's nice to be alone
Privacy is my religion
I've kept my faith in it
Finding comfort in anonymity
Seeking solace in silence
I'm finding most heroes as common as me
Looking glass pictures of what we could be
Everyday people who rise to a moment
Looking glass pictures of what we could be
My history repeats itself each day
Sometimes I can even make it rhyme
I can't be a hero all the time
Sometimes it's nice to be alone
Privacy is my religion
I've kept my faith in it
Finding comfort in anonymity
Seeking solace in silence
I'm finding most heroes as common as me
Looking glass pictures of what we could be
Everyday people who rise to a moment
Looking glass pictures of what we could be

I Want Your Love
03:51
|
|||
Want to take you when you're soft & shy
Want to see you in the morning light
I want you in the best sort of way
I want you every night and day
Can't give you diamonds
Can't give you brand new cars
But I'll give you anything I have
I want your love
I want your love
I want your love
Want to take you to exotic places
Want to show you lots of different faces
Want to share with you the things I've seen
Want to take you where tomorrow's been
Can't give you diamonds
Can't give you brand new cars
But I'll give you anything I have
I want your love
I want your love
I want your love
You can hang those nice silk stockings
On my bedpost, any night
You can gently rock me baby,
till the stars all call it a night
Can't give you diamonds
Can't give you brand new cars
But I'll give you anything I have
I want your love
I want your love
I want your love

Things That Feel Illegal
03:47
|
|||
Items on a list that's never long enough
Coffee, with real half & half
A cheeseburger with an egg on top (Royale)
Being naked, even under my clothes
And everyone knows
And nothing seems so regal
as those things that feel illegal
Things that almost seem
too good to be true
Items on a list that's never quite complete
Forbidden fruit always tastes so sweet
Smoking pot on my front porch
Black jelly beans at Easter
Sex in all its forms
And nothing seems so regal
as those things that feel illegal
Things that almost seem
too good to be true
Things that make a life worth the living
More taking than of giving
Spice that makes a life worth the living
Skinny dipping under moonlight
Meat encased in pastry
Meat on a stick, almost any
And flirting shamelessly
And nothing seems so regal
as those things that feel illegal
Things that almost seem
too good to be true
Things that make a life worth the living
More taking than of giving
Spice that makes a life worth the living

How much sinning, I wonder, does it take to go to hell?
Jesus died for my sins --- Seems an awfully steep price to pay
I feel like I should be sinning more
To make it worth his while
I don't feel I've been terribly bad
I hope he didn't do it for me, alone
I try to be good, I try hard every day
But sometimes I slip and fall and then can't get away
That job of hanging on the cross
Is not one I'd take easily - at least not with a smile...
If Jesus died for our sins
Don't let it be for nothing
Go out and sin some more right now so he didn't die in vain
And if he died for all of our sins
* Then why is there a christian subscription required?
I'm trying to do my part --- a little greed, some vanity
Some slothiness, Pride (for sure), and lust, (indeed)
I'm can be a glutton, eating and drinking to excess
and I often get quite angry sometimes...
The antidotes are there, but don't always work for me
Humility, chastity, charity, gratitude, patience, temperance and diligence
All nice things to practice,
But on most days --- Four or five out of seven ain't too bad
That job of hanging on the cross
Is not one I'd take easily - at least not with a smile...
If Jesus died for our sins
Don't let it be for nothing
Go out and sin some more right now so he didn't die in vain
And if he died for all of our sins
* Then why is there a christian subscription required?

Miss L
03:35
|

Hello Miss L
Gee you're looking well
Just have to tell you
I wish you so well
Miss L, you're looking fine
The pleasure's all mine
Your brand of madness
Blends neatly with mine
Cuz when you're on you're really on
And when you're gone you're really gone
Now you're gone...
So I'm singing my song and it won't be long
Til I taste your smile and embrace you, for awhile
Miss L you're so fine
And now's the right time
The pleasure's all mine
I'm doing fine, Miss L
Hope to see you soon
Right now is not too soon
You fill my empty room
You make me swoon
Cuz when you're on you're really on
And when you're gone you're really gone
Now you're gone...
So I'm singing my song and it won't be long
Til I taste your smile and embrace you, for awhile
Miss L you're so fine
And now's the right time
The pleasure's all mine
I'm doing fine, Miss L
Cuz when you're on you're really on
And when you're gone you're really gone
Now you're gone...
So I'm singing my song and it won't be long
Til I taste your smile and embrace you, for awhile

Eastern Sunset
04:02
|
|||
I can't do it without you
That doesn't mean it needs to be done
I'm so easily drawn into another's world
A place where even streets feel compelled to change their name
Kindness is a luxury that anyone can afford
The roof never leaks until it rains
You cannot catch the wind with a net
And even elders make mistakes
Been watching wars on TV since I was nine
Seen a lot of the world, if only in pictures
And now the sun is setting in the east, every day
The world ignores it, tries to make its way
Kindness is a luxury that anyone can afford
The roof never leaks until it rains
You cannot catch the wind with a net
And even elders make mistakes

Intrigue
04:13
|
|||
Challenges issued, correct response confirmed
Exchange of information underway
Voices whispering in unknown tongues
Dozing while the radio crackles away
Intrigue, and rumors that won't die
The future came early – showed up yesterday
No fanfare or publicity
Now there is no future anymore
An arched eyebrow, a sidelong glance
The trace of a mirthless smile
A hurried meeting, watching for watchers
The game is over, the deed is done...
Intrigue, and rumors that won't die
The future came early – showed up yesterday
No fanfare or publicity
Now there is no future anymore
People smoking languidly in doorways
A man with his head in his hands, weeping quietly
Averted eyes, an unfinished phrase
A note of something different in a voice
Intrigue, and rumors that won't die
The future came early – showed up yesterday
No fanfare or publicity
Now there is no future anymore

This Is How It Ends
04:47
|
|||
Now we're ruled by clowns and criminals
Judged by those who hate us
Beclowned into caricatures
Of the worst we can be
Is this still my country?
The land of the free (if you're rich)
And so, this is how the world ends?
No big bang, no epic battle
Only a whimper as we limp away
As we throw up our hands
And wonder what to do..
This is it?
This is how it ends?
The law's a joke that was never funny in the first place
Thanks for making my country hate again
Treason goes unpunished
Traitors in the halls and on TV
Killers roaming churches and schools
Aiming to “set you free”
And so, this is how the world ends?
No big bang, no epic battle
Only a whimper as we limp away
As we throw up our hands
And wonder what to do..
This is it?
This is how it ends?
